Sportswear manufacturer Adidas has launched an app for ‘sneakerheads’ looking to make sure they get their hands on the latest designs released by the brand, ahead of its highly anticipated collaboration with Kanye West.
The app will provide consumers with a secure and easy way to confirm their reservation of the most coveted shoes. It provides users with more control over limited releases, and ensures all consumers have a fair shot of getting access to the shoes, as well as reducing crowds and long waits at physical stores. Geo-targeting is used to protect consumers from bots that often dilute launches on social media like Twitter.
“We are addressing a real market need,” said Simon Atkins, vice president of brand activation at Adidas. “Until now, the industry standard for reserving hype sneakers has been social media or lottery-based systems which often result in long lines and unclaimed reservations.
“We thought about our consumers, what platforms they’re using the most and what would make the most sense for them.
