Apple has announced a media event to take place in San Francisco on 9 March, and while the company hasn’t confirmed the topic of the event, all signs point to it being a release party for the Apple Watch.
The event will start at 10am at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts Theater in San Francisco, and will likely be the first time the company demonstrates its smartwatch in full working capacity, rather than the demo version displayed in September 2014.
Apple has been typically reticent over its new device, with details like battery life, app availability, pricing and an official release date still to be confirmed. The Monday morning event will probably see these and other features discussed.
Apple’s first all-new product since the launch of the iPad in 2010, the Apple Watch has had a difficult journey to release, with recent reports suggesting that initially planned features proved unreliable and marketers concerned about how the device will deliver advertising.
Despite this, the company’s confidence seems high, with 6m units reportedly ordered for shipment in Q2 2015 and consumer buzz around the smartwatch approaching fever pitch.
