Betfair Launches ‘Unspinit’ App for Translating Politicians

Ahead of tomorrow’s televised leader’s debate, gambling operator Betfair has launched a web app, Unspinit.

Created with comedian David Schneider, the app presents users with a fruit machine-style interface which they can use to pick a topic and party leader. The app will then display a real answer from the debates and the Unspinit ‘translation’ of that answer.

So, choosing the Lib Dems’ Nick Clegg and ‘Recovery plans’ will show Clegg’s statement: “We believe that by building a strong, modern, open economy we can become the powerhouse of Europe,” and Betfair’s version: “I don’t really have a plan, just some words”. Users are then encouraged to share these on Twitter.

Unspinit is intended to remind users that Betfair offers political betting – there’s a link to its odds on the general election, though unfortunately on the mobile we tested Unspinit on, this led to a 404 error.
