According to John Lewis, ‘Christmas’ has been the most popular search item on the retailer’s website since 3 September.
Christmas seems to arrive earlier every year and with November having just drawn to a close, it’s now safe to say that Black Friday has officially been adopted in the UK. Reports showed that across the UK, Asda sold 8,000 TVs by 9am and over 10,000 tablets in the first two hours. Today is Cyber Monday during which, according to Experian, consumers will spend £451,000 a minute, a 26 per cent increase on last year.
Regardless of your views as to when the festive season should start as a consumer, as a marketer or retailer, there’s no denying just how important this period is for business and the fact that it’s never too early to plan to capitalise on this retail bonanza.
