Five years ago today, YouTube trialled its first ad using the ‘TrueView’ format, which gives users the option to skip ads that don’t interest them.
The format is still on the up, with the number of advertisers using TrueView increasing 45 per cent in 2014, and all of the world’s top 100 brands running TrueView ads over the year. YouTube has put together an infographic looking back over the half-decade of TrueView, which you can find below:
