Instagram has launched Layout, an iOS app that enables users to combine up to nine photos into a single image.
Layout features a simple photo editor using a drag-and-drop interface for cropping, zooming and rearranging images, and also offers pre-canned effects like mirroring.
Perhaps the most interesting addition is the ‘Faces’ function, which can automatically detect people in existing photos, in order to make filtering and sorting easier.
Images created in Layout can be shared on Instagram itself and on its parent, Facebook, as well as third parties Snapchat, Google+, Dropbox and Flipboard – but notably not Twitter.
Layout is initially only available for iOS, with an Android version promised ‘in the coming months’.
