Microsoft is launching a limited edition commuter newspaper in support of its Lumia handsets, The Five to Nine, will be published daily from 22 – 26 June only (Monday – Friday next week) and distributed the following morning. (So Monday’s edition appears on Tuesday, Tuesday’s on Wednesday etc.) Microsoft said the Five to Nine aims to inspire and encourage people to get out of the office and do what’s creatively and personally important to them.
The idea stems from research from Red Dot carried out among 2,000 UK consumers in April 2015, suggesting that as people work longer hours, they are not able to spend time doing things they are passionate about. 46 per cent of UK employees spent the May bank holiday working, with 60 per cent of those who did so going into the office – in spite of mobile technology which makes remote working easier. 58 per cent of those who use smartphones for work admit that they don’t use them to their full potential, undermining their productivity. The Five to Nine aims to show what can be achieved by using technology to work smarter and more efficiently.
