Outback Steakhouse has introduced a new function to its app that enables potential customers to access real-time information on wait times for tables at local restaurants.
The strategy was driven by a study that found consumers sometimes wait 40 minutes to be seated, and it was a source of major frustration for diners. The company is aiming to streamline its reservation and waiting process through the introduction of ‘Click Thru Seating’ to its app.
In addition to offering information on current wait times, the app allows potential diners to add their name to wait lists, book a particular time slot, or change their booking if they are running late, offering more flexibility than a traditional reservation system, and all delivered through the company’s existing app.
Outback is part of the Bloomin’ Brands group, which also includes Carrabba’s Italian Grill and Bonefish Grill. Should the addition of Click Thru Seating prove successful at Outback, it may be expanded throughout the group in an effort to deliver improved customer service across every brand.
