UK Tech Firm Creates Roaming SIM to Avoid Mobile Dead Spots

While the UK Government eyes plans to force mobile network operators to provide full network roaming, a Leeds-based tech company has developed its own solution, in the form of a SIM that jumps between networks.

The SIM, created by 24 Seven, searches out the strongest signal from O2, Vodafone and EE, with the aim of eliminating so-called ‘not-spots’ where individual operator signals are weak.

24 Seven also acts as a Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO), enabling it to provide all the functions and services of a traditional mobile network, and giving it complete oversight and control over the SIM cards, from provisioning and billing, to real time data reporting from the SIM activity.
