Yahoo has unveiled its new mobile search engine in the US following changes to its long-standing deal with Microsoft that has seen the Bing search engine integrated into Yahoo’s mobile and desktop services.
Yahoo announced the renegotiation of the six year deal in April, with Yahoo continuing to serve Bing ads and search results for the majority of its desktop search traffic, but Microsoft becoming the exclusive salesforce for Bing Ads, easing the burden on Yahoo and leaving it free to focus on its Gemini ad platform.
Speculation surrounding the two companies’ longstanding search partnership began earlier in April, after images of a new mobile search engine were leaked, indicating that Yahoo was developing their own search solution.
That speculation has been confirmed today, with the launch of a new mobile search experience by the company that promises to connect users immediately to the people, places and things they care about.
