Under the leadership of Marissa Mayer, Yahoo has begun to transform its business into a more mobile-focused company, using canny acquisitions to bring expertise and tech into the firm. Now, it is planning a major push into the mobile ad market.
According to The Information, the company has been aggressively hiring additional staff for its mobile ad team for the past few months, and is planning a revamp of its ad services in H1 of 2015.
Among these plans is the introduction of a self-service platform for publishers using its Flurry network, enabling them to place ads on apps. Citing two sources familiar with the matter, this will reportedly be one of the company’s key attempts in 2015 to combat its stagnant revenues, and falling desktop ad rates.
